Voice Teleprompter is a free, independent tool that displays your script as large scrolling text and, when you turn on Voice Follow, listens to you read and auto-scrolls to match your actual pace — instead of a fixed constant speed you have to keep up with.
You paste a script into a text box, then start either Voice Follow (which uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API to listen and track which words you've said, advancing the scroll to keep your current line near the top third of the screen) or Manual Scroll Speed (a simple adjustable-speed auto-scroll with no microphone access at all). Both modes support adjustable font size and a mirror-flip toggle for people using a physical teleprompter rig with beam-splitter glass.
Speech recognition is never perfect — it mishears words, drops filler words, and sometimes lags. Rather than require an exact transcript match (which would get stuck the moment anything was misheard), Voice Follow searches a short window of upcoming script words for the best match to what it just heard, and simply skips anything it can't confidently match. That keeps the scroll moving smoothly through normal, imperfect real-world speech.
Video creators, presenters, and anyone doing a scripted recording who wants to read naturally — pausing for emphasis, speeding up, ad-libbing a little — without the text scrolling away from them or lagging behind. It's also built with real teleprompter-rig users in mind: the mirror-flip toggle exists specifically for beam-splitter hardware setups.
Your script text stays in the page for your current session only — nothing is uploaded or stored on a server. If you use Voice Follow, your microphone audio is processed by your browser's own Web Speech API, which in Chrome typically means the audio is sent to Google's speech-recognition servers to be turned into text. See the full privacy policy for the complete, honest explanation — we don't claim this is 100% on-device, because for Voice Follow in Chrome, it isn't.
